While addressing the traditional leaders and council chairmen at a conference in Damaturu on Tuesday, Governor Buni voiced his profound concern over the increasing drug misuse, especially in certain northern regions. The forum was focused on strengthening the basic healthcare system.

He emphasised the urgent need to take proactive measures in order to protect the state’s youth and future from the risks associated with drug abuse, a problem that is impacting other states.

The governor went on to say that anyone caught dealing or using illegal substances in the state would face the full weight of the law.

For their unwavering backing of primary healthcare delivery in Yobe, he lauded the Federal Government, development partners, and traditional rulers.

He emphasised that the government’s dedication to healthcare service on all fronts stems from the belief that a healthy populace is crucial to rapid economic growth.

As a result, “making quality healthcare accessible and affordable to our people across the state” continues to be our top priority.

“Healthcare delivery in the state has undoubtedly reached new heights” he continued, “due to the establishment of 142 functional primary healthcare centres, provision of equipment, drugs, and recruitment and deployment of over 2,000 qualified healthcare personnel to various healthcare facilities.”
