Women have been staying at a hotel in Lagos, allegedly coached to accuse Akpabio of sexual harassment, according to a coalition

The Nigeria Integrity Watch (NIW), a group of civil society organizations, claims that these women are being housed in a luxury hotel in Lagos State with the purpose of blackmailing Senate President Godswill Akpabio. NIW’s National Convener, Dr. John Samuel Nangi, referred to this scheme as a “campaign of calumny.”

The coalition asserts that this supposed blackmail operation involves the organization of multiple women, who are allegedly being accommodated in a lavish hotel in Lagos.

“These women are being instructed and guided by individuals labeled as blackmailers, aiming to create damaging stories related to a new sexual harassment claim against the Senate President.”

NIW also claims that a prominent appointee in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, along with a disgraced senator, is orchestrating this attempt to blackmail Akpabio.

“Moreover, a network of powerful online content creators, social media influencers, and bloggers is being rallied to spread misinformation and propaganda as part of this malicious scheme.

This coordinated effort seeks to tarnish not only Akpabio’s reputation but also the integrity of the Senate and the entire Nigerian government,” NIW stated. In response to these serious allegations, Nangi called on key security agencies to stay alert and take action.

The organization specifically urged the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to monitor the situation closely and take necessary measures to prevent any attempts to undermine the authority of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through lies and harmful propaganda. Nangi highlighted the necessity of protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions, stating,
