Voters’ choices alone will determine election outcomes, according to Osun REC

No candidate would be declared victorious in any election unless the electorates themselves cast their ballots, according to Dr. Mutiu Agboke, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State at INEC.

For the record, he has already stated that the state is gearing up to launch its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) program in August.

During Sunday’s sensitisation tours in Osogbo, Agboke made this promise while visiting religious organisations including Winners Assembly International (Living Faith Church) and Nasrul‑lahi‑li Fathi Society of Nigeria, NASFAT.

During his speech at the Winners Assembly, Agboke emphasised the importance of all eligible individuals taking part in the CVR. He also announced that the registration process will begin on August 18, 2025, on the official portal: website that is hosted in Nigeria

Fill out your details online and print off a registration sheet beginning August 18, 2025, he announced. For biometric capture and physical verification, bring this slip to any INEC local government office starting August 25.

In addition to the online option, Agboke said that local government offices and the INEC state office in Osogbo will also be available to help participants during the exercise, which is free and open to the public from 9 am to 3 pm every day.

Participants must be at least 18 years old and must not have already registered for this activity. Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) that have been destroyed or defaced are also eligible for this, as are individuals who have moved and need to update their registration to reflect their new address, he added.

While praising the value of registered voters and their active engagement in the electoral process, the INEC chairman from Osun state called on religious groups to back the commission’s initiatives to strengthen democracy. Additionally, he reassured the congregation that their votes will be meaningful in upcoming elections.

If Nigeria’s elections are to be successful, we must pray for God’s favour. Taking a neutral stance is detrimental. In order for us to succeed, we require the backing of religious groups and each and every person. No one will win the election in Osun State except the candidate the people vote for,” I can tell you in 2026.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, they can reach out to the REC’s Head of Information and Communication Technology at 08133764850, the Head of Operations at 08035604059, or the Resident Electoral Commissioner at 08037435880.

Agboke delivered a comparable sensitisation speech at the NASFAT mosque in Osogbo, urging Muslims to take advantage of the chance to register to vote or update their information.

In order to ensure a successful process and credible elections, he asked NASFAT members to make the most of the registration time.

In order to get their members involved in the exercise, the religious leaders at Winners’ Chapel and NASFAT both promised to spread the word further.
