On Friday, Reno Omokri, a former presidential assistant, characterised Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate for the Labour Party, as a liar who manipulates Nigerians with phoney data.

Obi, according to Omokri, “played Yahoo Plus” on the Nigerian people by taking advantage of their lack of knowledge about the matter.
He was responding to Obi’s assertion that the current administration of President Bola Tinubu has taken out more loans than any prior administration. Omokri reacted by saying that Obi’s claim was just the latest in a long line of lies associated with him.
By utilising the Naira equivalent of our whole public debt to trick Nigerians into thinking that President Bola Tinubu had raised the debt, manipulator Peter Obi deceived them yesterday during his Democracy Day speech, Omokri wrote on X. In reality, Peter Obi lied—and he uses his own tongue when he does so.
It appears that our entire public debt has grown, at least in Naira terms. This is due to the fact that the Naira declined from approximately N450 to N550 to $1 to approximately N1565 today as a result of President Bola Tinubu’s floating of the currency and the Buhari regime’s removal of the $1.5 billion used to support the Naira.

“Peter Obi is aware of this. However, he deceives and manipulates you, preying on your lack of knowledge in order to pull a Yahoo Plus stunt on you.
