Tinubu expressed his profound sadness and disbelief upon hearing the news in a condolence statement sent on Saturday by his media assistant, Bayo Onanuga.

During this difficult time, Tinubu assured the people of Kano State that the support of the federal government and his whole cabinet is with them. Those who lost loved ones in the accident also had his condolences.

This is a catastrophic setback for the country, the president of Nigeria said. It dampens the spirit of the National Sports Festival, which is supposed to be a joyous occasion honouring teamwork, skill, and brilliance. It has always been a place where talented athletes may be found and developed, giving Nigerians a sense of pride on a global scale.

The victims, he said, exemplified the tenacity of the Nigerian people because of their commitment and ambition in their chosen fields.

Taking action to ensure that similar tragedies do not happen again and to raise safety standards throughout the country’s transport networks is the highest form of praise that our nation can bestow upon them, Tinubu proclaimed.

In his prayers, he requested God to offer the families of the deceased strength and consolation and for their souls to rest in peace.

The President is worried about the devastating floods in Niger State’s Mokwa Local Government Area. On Wednesday, floods swept through the area, displacing countless people and killing more than 100.

He mentioned that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has subsequently apprised him of the severity of the crisis and the pressing humanitarian requirements.

The Niger State Government has requested assistance from all appropriate federal agencies, and search and rescue operations have already begun. Quickly distributed relief supplies and makeshift shelters are being put into action.

Everyone affected can rest assured that the support of our government is unwavering. The President emphasised the importance of working together with the Niger State Government to respond quickly, compassionately, and in a coordinated manner. This response should prioritise lives, restore dignity, and speed up the rehabilitation process.

Additionally, the top citizen ordered the military to aid with crisis operations and demanded constant communication and coordination from the National Emergency Management Agency and the National Emergency Response Centre. He pleaded with his fellow Nigerians to remember Mokwa and its people in prayer.
