The Indigenous People of Biafra have strongly condemned what they see as the Federal Government’s and certain media outlets’ latest pitiful effort to deflect attention away from the alleged shameful fall of their case against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the group’s leader.

IPOB has accused the federal government of trying to frame Kanu as a political prisoner by covering up the humiliating cross-examination of their witness, PW-BBB, who admitted under oath that there is no investigation report to back the politically motivated charges. Instead, they claimed that Kanu is being held illegally, in violation of both domestic and international law.
In a statement issued by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Powerful, with the heading “Federal Government’s Propaganda Fails Again,” the group denounces the use of the useless death certificate of Ahmed Gulak as a media diversion strategy.
IPOB went on to say that the federal government was attempting to derail the case by associating Gulak’s death with the group or Kanu, who has no knowledge of the matter.
“The latest hopeless effort by the Federal Government and its tainted media to redirect public focus from the shameful fall of their case against our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, is firmly denounced by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

“Instead of covering the humiliating interrogation of their bewildered witness, PW-BBB, who confessed under oath that there is no investigation report to back up the politically motivated accusations, the media is inundated with unrelated articles on the issuance of a death certificate.
Ahmed Gulak, a former assistant to former president Jonathan, has no admissible evidence in the current trial, despite his purported death certificate.
In an outrageous and inexcusable legal maneuver meant solely to conceal the embarrassment of a failed case, the federal government’s prosecutor, Awomolo SAN, acted dishonestly by trying to reintroduce evidence after concluding his examination-in-chief.

“Just so everyone knows, the annual 30th May Remembrance Day sit-at-home commemoration stated by IPOB for 2021 took place on Monday, May 31st, not Sunday, the 30th. This should be clarified. The murder of Gulak occurred on Sunday, one entire day prior to the celebration.
Just looking at this timeframe completely disproves the false accusation that IPOB was involved in his death. It is dishonest and perhaps criminal to try to fit this terrible occurrence into their unraveling story.
Part of the statement said, “We remind the world that this is not the first time the Nigerian state has weaponized misinformation and historical revisionism to justify ethnic prosecution.”
