This invitation comes in response to a report about a deadly truck accident at the Uren bridge, which connects the Odogbolu Local Government Area to the Ikenne Local Government Area. Reports indicate that the accident was attributed to the bridge’s narrow design, which is in need of repairs.

According to furucinovel, this invitation aims to facilitate discussions with the relevant agencies regarding the state of various roads throughout the region.

During a plenary session on Thursday, Speaker Oludaisi Elemide issued the invitation following a report from the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, who highlighted the accident that took place on the bridge, noting that the structure is narrow, weak, and requires reconstruction.

Elemide extended his condolences to the victims’ families and called for immediate actions to prevent similar incidents in the future.

He recognized and praised the government’s dedication to significant infrastructure projects across the state, emphasizing that the substantial backlogs of infrastructural deficits inherited from previous administrations have contributed to some of the ongoing road infrastructure issues in the state.

Earlier, Minority Leader Adeleye, speaking under personal explanation, commended the government’s current road projects and urged it to expand the ongoing construction on the Ikenne–Mayflower road to include the rehabilitation of the bridge, describing it as a crucial link for commuters in the area.
