According to Mr. Edo Seidu, who was in the know, Fulani herdsmen brutally killed Chief Tony Adejo, the district head, on Wednesday at his farm. The Fulani marauders, he alleged, slaughtered Chief Adejo on his property at about 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

When calls were made to the monarch’s phone, his assassins admitted they had murdered him, and they also confiscated his cell phone.

After our Tuesday conversation and scheduled meeting for Wednesday, I called him to find out this horrible backstory because I hadn’t heard from him. No matter your background or identity, Chief Adejo treated everyone with dignity and respect.

At the time of this report’s publication, attempts to obtain confirmation of the occurrence from CSP Catherine Anene, the Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Command, were unsuccessful.
