Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has stated that President Bola Tinubu has made considerable progress in developing the South East since taking office.

He made this announcement in Umuahia on Thursday during a town hall meeting and awareness program regarding the Federal government’s achievements in the South East under President Bola Tinubu.
Idris, who was represented by Mrs. Gloria Abiakam, the head of the Federal Information Centre in Abia State, noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu focuses on essential sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, youth employment, education, and infrastructure.
“Under the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, numerous critical sectors are finally receiving the attention they deserve,” the Minister remarked.
He highlighted several initiatives benefiting the South East, including the Cancer Centre equipped with an MRI machine at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in Enugu, a student loan scheme, the ongoing upgrade of the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway, agricultural intervention programs, and the First Lady’s empowerment initiative, among others.
In his comments, Rev. Ojo Ojo Uduma, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abia State, urged President Bola Tinubu to address the escalating insecurity in the nation.
Additionally, Sheik Ali Ukiwo, the Chairman of the Abia State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, called on President Tinubu to restore the rail line that once connected Umuahia with Kano and other Northern States to enhance trade. He took advantage of the well-attended event to advocate for improved security across the country.
