Modern infrastructure and cutting-edge aviation technology would ensure that the airport, situated on the Ilishan/Iperu axis of the state, would remain in operation for many years to come, according to the report.
While leading a group of media on a three-day training tour of Ogun State around the airport, Captain Dapo Olumide, the managing director of the airport, made this statement. He stressed how crucial it is to equip the airport with cutting-edge technology since it is an international hub.
“This airport has state-of-the-art electronics,” he said. Rather of boasting about our endless cash reserves, this airport has invested heavily in cutting-edge technology since it allows us to pass the savings on to you. Investing in the correct technology pays off in the end.
Even though the control is in Lagos, Captain Olumide claimed that the Control Tower could see on the radar as far away as and beyond Accra, Yaoundé, and Douala.

The physical construction of the airport has been finished, he said, but ongoing tasks include installing the landing system, ramp illumination, and a 2-megawatt gas power plant.
In order for the airport to be equipped to handle international flights, the MD announced that customs officials, police, and representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Nigeria will be stationed there.
Engr. Gbenga Dairo, commissioner for transportation, provided a brief history of the airport, saying that it was built to capitalize on its closeness to Lagos and to aid in the state’s ongoing industrialization.

According to Engr. Ade Akinsanya, the country’s commissioner for works and infrastructure, the airport is built to meet global standards and is strategically positioned for easy access from all parts of the country.
At the airport, we have implemented numerous changes. It can handle aircraft such as the Boeing 777, 747, or Airbus 330 thanks to its four-kilometer runway, which makes it a Class E airport.
Built on 82,000 square meters of ground, the space where the aircraft are stored is the largest around. When correctly parked, it can house roughly 20 aircraft, he noted.
Once all the required licenses have been obtained, he claims that commercial flights can begin, guaranteeing that the airport would be built using only the finest materials.
