In a statement signed by the union’s secretary, Bola Lawal, the chairman, Waheed Oloyede, made it clear that the agreed gratuity will benefit pensioners from both the state and local governments.

According to Oloyede, this shows that Abiodun is serious about helping the elderly who have had their benefits refused over the years, and it has also helped to lessen the backlog of accrued gratuities.

“We are deeply grateful for the milk of godly kindness and generosity in you towards us, the elderly,” claims one section of the statement. Paying the gratuities will undoubtedly help a lot of people and their families.

The timely and accurate payment of our monthly pensions has helped us in our efforts to acquire long-term health care, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind support.

Additionally, we would want to thank everyone who has recently provided us, the retirees, with subsidies and palliatives to help us weather the current economic storm. Our sincere appreciation goes out to you, our dear governor; we will not take your kindnesses for granted.

In accordance with the 2019 Federal Government Circular on Consequential Adjustment of Pensions, however, the elderly people pleaded with the governor to authorize the consequential rise in pensions for long-standing pensioners.
