After the operation, forces were able to neutralise one bandit and seize weapons, according to Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the Media Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven.
He claims a tip-off regarding bandit intentions to assault Kampani Zurak and the surrounding villages in Plateau State’s Wase Local Government Area prompted the operation.
“During the operation, troops made contact with the criminals at their concentration area at Dutsen Zaki High Ground in Wase LGA of Plateau State,” he stated in the statement. The soldiers killed one of the robbers in the gunfight and wounded several others as they ran away.
Auwalu Isa, a 24-year-old resident of Kampani Zurak in Wase LGA, Plateau State, was later freed by the troops. Reuniting the rescued victim with his family followed debriefing.

“Also, today at around 1:20 pm, troops of 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven conducted operations based on credible intelligence that some bandits have concealed their weapons in Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State due to pressure from troops conducting the ongoing Operation Lafiyan Jama’a,” the statement detailed.
Upon discovering a recently excavated area during the mission, the men wasted no time in getting to work. Also found during the operation were thirty 7.62 mm (Special) bullets, an AK-47 weapon, and an AK-47 magazine that had been cleverly stashed by the thieves.
Troops now have the weapon and ammo in their possession and are preparing to take further action. They are also continuing operations in the region to search for any other weapons or ammunition that the criminals may have hidden.
