The political leaders of Kano State have been advised by Vice President Kashim Shettima to remain united and not let their differences in opinion drive a wedge between them.

While paying his respects to the late Galadiman Kano, Abbas Sunusi, in the Emir’s palace on Saturday night, he made the impassioned plea.

Shettima stressed the significance of unity in the politically significant state while speaking in the presence of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Abdullahi Abbas of the Kano APC, and prominent figures from the Gandujiyya and Kwankwasiyya factions.

Political differences should not split or disturb a state like Kano, which is esteemed by all levels of government, according to Shettima.

“We do not rejoice when we see political rifts or finger-pointing among its people,” he added, emphasizing that Kano serves as an example for the entire Nigeria.

According to him, “Kano is the heartbeat of the North; whatever affects Kano affects the North.” This highlights the significant significance that Kano plays in Northern Nigeria.

When asked why he decided to speak in Hausa, Shettima stated it was to make an emotional connection with the audience and guarantee that his message would be understood clearly.

“I have done my best to ensure that you understand me well, but I am not a native Hausa speaker. That is why I am delivering this message in Hausa,” Shettima stated. Additionally, he hoped that God would provide Galadiman Kano, who passed away, paradise in his prayers.
