Oba Sunday Adefila, traditional ruler of the Oreke-Okegbo community in Ifelodun LGA, Kwara State, has criticised the police statements made after armed men kidnapped two miners—a Chinese national and a Nigerian—and killed two mobile policemen on Wednesday at a mining site.

It was at Oreke-Oke, not Oreke-Okegbo, as the police had reported, the monarch told furucinovel in a Saturday phone interview.
Former KWEPA General Manager Adefila stated that “the incident happened at Oreke-Oke as there are two Orekes in the area,” implying that the Oreke-Okegbo community does not have a mining operation.
Two further cops were kidnapped as the armed guys removed the weapons from the bodies of the police officers who had already died. To release them, the assailants are requesting a ransom. According to police reports, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N1 billion to free the two hostages.
The traditional ruler reportedly asked, “What is happening in this country?” according to furucinovel. Since there is no mining site in my village—Oreke-Okegbo—and because I am the Kabiyesi of the Oreke-Okegbo community, I will disprove the story because there are two Orekes, and mine is Oreke-Okegbo.

Since the incident did not occur within his jurisdiction, he demanded that the police leadership rescind its report on it. The report has gone viral, and the Oba has been inundated with calls from all around the world, he claimed.
On Sunday, no one could be reached who could confirm the identity of state police command spokeswoman SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
