The administration has ordered the security services to crack down hard on the culprits, who are deemed as undesirable elements endangering public tranquilly, in light of this mounting threat.
This was revealed during Monday’s press briefing at Government House, Umuahia, by Okey Kanu, the Commissioner for Information. He briefed reporters on the decisions made at the executive council meeting last week, which Governor Alex Otti had presided over.
Kanu made it clear that the state government would not stand idly by while cults threatened the lives of its innocent citizens.
The increasing number of cult-related occurrences in the state has been noted by the state government with concern.
According to Kanu, “this administration will spare no efforts in ensuring that the State is rid of cult activities.” This statement was made by the responsible government.
In addition, he made an announcement about the payment of 249 individuals whose unpaid entitlements at Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, had been withdrawn by the previous administration from 2018 to 2022.
Furthermore, Kanu disclosed that the hiring of medical professionals has begun, as recently authorised by Governor Otti. The Abia State Civil Service Commission has opened the application portals for interested candidates.
