In the 2023–24 season, Fabregas was an assistant coach at Como, and his team is now in the thick of things as they try to earn a top-half finish in Italy’s first flight. The former Spain midfielder has piqued the eye of numerous elite European clubs with his outstanding play.
But Fabregas has opted to keep his current deal, which is valid until 2028, and has turned down Leverkusen’s offer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Fabregas expressed his gratitude to Como for believing in him before he obtained a UEFA coaching license, which allowed him to coach at the highest level.
Como has been approached by other teams over Fabregas, not just Leverkusen. Previous approaches to the 38-year-old came from RB Leipzig and Roma.
