In a post on his verified Facebook page, Senator Shehu Sani mentioned Professor Jibril Aminu, who built the Eleme Refinery and the majority of the country’s petroleum depots during his tenure as Petroleum Minister.
“The NNPC was overhauled and decentralised by him. No new ones have been added since he departed from office. Among his many educational changes as minister, he found time to organise the School for the Gifted Children and the Nomadic Education Commission.
In the 1970s, he oversaw the NUC and was the vice chancellor of UNIMAID. He served two terms as Adamawa’s senator. Unusually for a northerner in that era, he excelled as a medical student at the University of Central Ibadan (UCH) in the 1960s. One of America’s brightest minds and most influential leaders has passed away. May Allah bless him with eternal life, amin.
