His reasoning was that the public’s health and safety would be better protected if medical treatment were to be provided by qualified personnel.

He said that in order to eradicate health-related illegalities that endanger the public’s health, Governor Umo Eno ordered his government to rigorously execute rules.

According to him, even tailors in Akwa Ibom State now pose as doctors due to the prevalence of medical quackery in the state.

The governor has issued an order for the ministry to re-register all private hospitals in Akwa Ibom and to develop updated guidelines. We will allocate a period to each individual as soon as the guideline is published.”

Joint task force teams have been established to battle phoney and counterfeit pharmaceuticals, monitor private health facilities, and expose quacks operating in the health sector, as mentioned by the commissioner.

He announced that the state would soon begin re-registering all private hospitals and laboratories as part of the health sector reforms.

Along with the replacement of the industrial oxygen plant, he also announced the launch of two new oxygen plants at the general hospital in Eket and Emmanuel General Hospital in Ukpum Abak.
