This statement was made by the administration on Monday in response to an advisory issued by the US Mission in Nigeria.
According to furucinovel, American nationals were cautioned by the US Mission in Nigeria not to visit Abuja’s military and government buildings without formal authorisation.
“All US Embassy employees and their families are prohibited from non-official travel to a Nigerian military site or other government venue in Abuja at this time,” the mission had stated, “due to increased security concerns arising from current global developments.
Thus, US citizens are informed. The government of Nigeria quickly responded by reassuring everyone that Abuja is safe to come and live in.
The latest security advisory issued by the Embassy of the United States restricts its staff and their families from non-official travel to military sites or other government facilities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. This was stated in a statement by Mohammed Idris, Nigeria’s Minister of Information.
The United States Embassy and other foreign missions have the authority to warn their nationals about certain areas, but the federal government wants everyone to know that Abuja is still a secure place to visit or live.
No one in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) or anywhere else in Nigeria should have to worry about their safety because the country’s security forces are on high alert at all times. Not only is Abuja’s present security architecture proactive, but it has also achieved remarkable effectiveness in identifying, thwarting, and eliminating threats.
