While leading a team from his state to Minna to express condolences to the people and administration of Niger State following the devastating flood in Mokwa, Zulum made this call. He was upset that floods had occurred across the nation due to the large amount of water being discharged.

What we are witnessing is quite worrisome. There is a tremendous amount of water coming, even if it is not raining much at the moment. Climate change is to blame for this. It is crucial that we unite as soon as possible to lessen the impact of climate change, he said.

Prof. Zulum has urged the federal government to establish a strong system to monitor and deal with the problem of flooding in the nation.

“Subnationals must cooperate to lessen the impact of this threat,” the governor of Borno said. If the federal government is serious about preventing floods, it must establish a robust framework to deal with this problem. In addition, I have faith that the federal authorities will investigate this matter.

According to Zulum, “this donation is to complement the efforts of the Niger State government in addressing the challenges of the disaster that occurred” upon announcing a donation of N300 million to the state’s flood victims, the news was made public.

The flood that killed hundreds of people is a problem we’re facing as well. But we lost more lives than you did, therefore ours is different. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

In response, Mohammed Umaru Bago, governor of Niger State, expressed gratitude to his colleague for the visit and donation, calling them a token of affection and a gift at the right moment.
