NAF strikes terrorist hideouts and disrupts Borno logistics

A number of fighters have been neutralised and vital logistical equipment has been destroyed in air interdiction operations conducted by the Nigerian Air Force against terrorist enclaves in Talala and Ajigin, which are situated in the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.

Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist, posted this on Saturday on his official X account.

The airstrikes were carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai under the current campaign dubbed Operation KALACHEN WUTA II on May 7, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to the post.

The operation was initiated due to reliable information and reports from surveillance suggesting that ISWAP terrorists were reorganising and gathering materials for planned assaults.

The report cited intelligence sources as claiming that “our ISR platforms had earlier picked up significant terrorist activities at the Talala and Ajigin axes,” suggesting that the enemy was preparing for coordinated strikes by regrouping and storing logistics.

“The Air Component launched a decisive strike against the enclaves after the threat was confirmed. Scores of terrorists were neutralised and a plethora of logistical assets, including temporary structures, weaponry, and mobility vehicles, were destroyed as a consequence of the precision-guided engagement,” the source stated.

Presumably, the operation threw the rebels’ preparations into a loop, and early evaluations point to confusion and fear among ISWAP.

Intelligence surveillance in the aftermath of the hit showed that the remaining fighters were confused and had a tactical setback.

A source went on to say, “This operation sends a clear message: wherever the enemy attempts to find cover, we will find them, and we will strike with precision and resolve.”
