The actor, who also teaches theatre at the Lagos State University of Education, revealed that he tied the knot at the age of 40 while discussing his life and work.

The lack of self-assurance and financial resources, Saka said, “I’m now paying school fees with grey hair,” in reference to the postponement of his marriage.

“I am not confident. I prefer to keep to myself. Two things—my career and myself—led to my marriage being postponed. Back then, the performing arts were unfunded and unrecognised. All we were doing was following our hearts. Worst of all, we learnt nothing about producing a living off of the stage and were only instructed in acting.

At the end of it all, I had absolutely nothing, not even a motorbike. Calling a female would naturally make her look at you as if you had no chance of success. A woman even went so far as to say that I should quit acting and do something meaningful with my life since I’m wasting it.

The intended bride of my dreams insisted that I get two vehicles before we could tie the knot. Then I had a feeling this wasn’t my wife. Olaide Oyetoro was Saka’s wife, and he wed her in 2003. Three children have been bestowed upon them.
