Two important road development projects in the Abuja Municipal Area Council were inspected on Saturday, April 19, 2025, by Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The 10.5-kilometer Kabusa/Ketti road and the 9.8-kilometer Kabusa/Takushara road are among the projects that were examined. The former connects the districts of Kabusa, Pyakasa, and Ketti, while the latter links the districts of Takushara, Wasa, and Kabusa.
In keeping with the order from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Wike reaffirmed the administration’s commitment during the inspection to expand infrastructure development outside of Abuja’s city center into the satellite towns.
Ketti and the route between Kabusa and Takushara are places we’ve been. We should not limit our focus to urban areas, as the president has consistently emphasized. The satellite towns should be the focus of our development efforts. In particular, he said, “you can see how happy the residents were in Ketti,” a densely populated neighborhood.
The Minister extended his gratitude to Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, Chairman of the AMAC, for bringing the FCT Administration’s attention to the critical importance of the road projects.

I would like to express my gratitude to the AMAC chairman for bringing our attention to these two crucial roadways. “If it had been for him, we might not have paid attention to this location,” Wike remarked.
The Minister was optimistic that the two roads would be ready for commissioning by the end of May, in commemoration of President Tinubu’s second year in office, and expressed pleasure with the progress of the construction.
I’m pleased with the work the contractors have done so far, and I’m hoping that the two roads will be inaugurated by the end of May to celebrate Mr. President’s second year in office. So, we are really pleased with what we have observed,” he continued.

By enhancing communication and creating more livable and economically viable satellite towns, Wike emphasized that the road improvements might decrease rural-urban migration.
You won’t have to tell us to stay in the city anymore now that this road is finished. Thanks to the road network, getting to the city from here takes no more than ten minutes. It will make the whole area accessible. People will prefer to build houses here rather than in the seemingly more expensive metropolis.
Most folks, I’m sure, will be wondering how they might get their hands on some land in these places to build on and escape paying city rent. He went on to say that the route would boost the local economy and connect the two towns.
The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to constructing schools in the region, adding that this promise will be put into action once the statutory budget for 2025 is passed.
“I still haven’t forgotten my pledge to construct schools when we first arrived to launch these projects; I’m only waiting for the 2025 statutory budget to pass so we can get started. “I believe we are happy, and I know the people are happy,” he remarked.
When asked who is responsible for building roads inside the Lugbe Federal Housing Estate, Wike explained that it is the Federal Housing Authority. Building highways connecting districts and satellite towns is the top priority of the FCT Administration, he said.
The Federal Housing Authority owns the property. They ought to be capable of managing their own affairs. We need to build highways that connect every part of the city… That site was allotted to the Federal Housing estate, and they constructed the estate and sold it to people. We have informed them of this. Before we even consider constructing roads within estates, let’s make sure the areas connecting big cities and satellite towns are ready.
After the inspection was over, Wike wished the people of the FCT a happy Easter and reiterated President Tinubu’s call for national solidarity and collaboration. He reassured people that the government will follow through on its promises.
Following Mr. President’s long-standing call, all Nigerians must stand together and fight for what’s best for their country. We will keep the pledges we have made, by God’s help, and I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy Easter.
