Jurgen Klopp, the former head coach of Liverpool, has criticised the new FIFA Club World Cup organisers. According to the German, the competition was the sport’s worst ever idea. The competition was restructured by FIFA earlier this year to accommodate 32 teams.

The Club World Cup is the worst idea ever adopted in football in this regard, Klopp remarked in an interview with the German magazine Welt (via talkSPORT).
Ideas are being generated by individuals who have no background in running the company. I get that, but people are asking for ridiculously high sums of money to participate.
However, not every club is like that. This year we have the Club World Cup, next year it will be the World Cup, and last year it was the Copa America and the Euro. The participants, both physically and psychologically, will not be able to recuperate from it.
An NBA player with a high salary also gets four months off each year. The captain of Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk, has never even had it. No one should have to go through it. With Liverpool in 2019, Klopp personally won the competition once.
