He urged the media community in the state to leverage their platforms to combat the increasing issues of electoral malpractices, especially vote buying and election-related violence.
This statement was made during a visit from the management of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Osogbo, to the INEC State office in Osogbo on Tuesday.
Dr. Agboke stressed that INEC relies on the media for various activities and advocated for a collaborative approach to social responsibility to ensure success.
He remarked, “I use the media for my activities because without it, nothing gets done. The media is a fundamental pillar for achieving success in our electoral activities.
“We must leverage social responsibility collaboration for our success. We are the primary beneficiaries. NTA was one of the key pillars of our success during the 2023 general elections. This embodies the spirit of teamwork.
“NTA, being the largest network in Africa, is not to be underestimated. We truly appreciate this gesture and will continue our partnership.”
Agboke pointed out that effective preparations for significant electoral events must be backed by strong public engagement through reliable media channels.
He praised NTA’s cooperation and contribution during the 2023 elections, reiterating, “NTA was one of the pillars of our success. We will not take this gesture for granted. Our partnership will continue.”
The REC reminded the NTA management about the start of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and the announcement of the upcoming 2026 Osun gubernatorial elections.
He urged the media to discourage underage individuals and foreign nationals from attempting to register to vote, while advising eligible voters to register at their local offices.
