In the face of attention from Arsenal, Rodrygo sets conditions to remain at Real Madrid

Keeping Real Madrid winger Rodrgyo beyond this summer is contingent upon the club meeting two of his demands.

The Athletic reports that incoming manager Xabi Alonso and Rodrygo would have confrontational discussions on Rodrygo’s future. The Brazilian allegedly told Madrid he would never play for the club again before last season came to a close.

At Bernabeu, the 24-year-old has been benched in favour of Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, and Jude Bellingham. As Carlo Ancelotti made adjustments to his formation and tactics, Rodrygo spent a lot of time on the bench.

If Rodrygo and Alonso are able to reach an agreement, he may reconsider his intention to go from the LaLiga giants.

Before everything else, Rodrygo hopes to regain his place on the squad after being demoted in 2023 and 2024, respectively, due to the signings of Bellingham and Mbappe.

The second requirement is that Rodrygo should be deployed on the left flank, where he is most at home, instead of the right side, where he has been used in the previous campaigns.

Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster Arsenal’s assault for the upcoming season, thus the Gunners are reportedly keeping an eye on the situation.
