Restrictions on mobility and nocturnal activities have been put in place within Malete town, the host community of Kwara State University, in an effort to reduce the frequent robberies that have targeted students of the university, according to furucinovel.

At a meeting of stakeholders called by the administration of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete, on Monday, all relevant parties came to a consensus on the resolution.
Professor Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, the university’s vice chancellor, together with other members of the extended administration, the chair of the Moro Local Government Council, traditional leaders, representatives from security agencies, the alumni association, and the Students’ Union were among the important players.
New security measures include a curfew on motorbike operations beginning at 10:00 p.m., a complete end to all business and general movements by 11:00 p.m., the mandatory turning off of generator sets by midnight, and the complete prohibition of night parties.
A Joint Security Committee, with members from the institution, the Malete community, the Students’ Union, and security services, was also established, as per the stakeholders’ agreement.
Furthermore, it is required that all private hostels within the community hire security guards, and to supplement official security operations, trained vigilantes will be hired.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh reaffirmed the university’s steadfast dedication to the security and welfare of every student.
According to Hajia Mariam Abdulwasiu, chairperson of the Moro Local Government Council, the council would begin the legal process to pass a by-law that codifies the agreed-upon restrictions.
To reinforce the night patrol in the neighbourhood, she also announced the deployment of ten more vigilantes who will be equipped with the required security equipment.
