As part of a state-sponsored farewell ceremony for five commanders who have left Abia State, Governor Alex Otti delivered the commendation speech at Government House, Umuahia.

He expressed his gratitude to the Commanders for their services and added that the present State Service Commanders might use the accolade as a chance to keep fighting.

The governor made the point that the state was successful in containing insecurity and criminal activity because of the assistance and collaboration of the military commanders.

You are the reason we were able to contain insecurities, kidnappings, armed robberies, banditry, you name it. We took great care in planning it. According to Governor Otti, these are well-mannered, decent men.

In their responses, some of the ex- Commanders, including Brigadier General O.O Diya of the Nigerian Army, Navy Captain O. A. Eyitayo of the Nigerian Navy, Dr Shelema Muhammed Soso of the DSS and Chidi Nnadi of the NDLEA expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for the honour done them.

They went on to say that the accolade bestowed upon their predecessors would serve as an inspiration to the current Service Commanders serving in the state.
