This development comes just days after the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), through its spokesman Olusola Adewara, expressed concerns that the state government was planning to erect a new Government House in the capital. The launch of the new office construction occurred in Ilorin, the state capital.

According to the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, the proposed building will be located next to the Deputy Governor’s Office at the Government House in Ilorin, as he mentioned during the brief ceremony.

The commissioner also refuted claims that the government was building another Government House, labeling those reports as untrue.

Ogunsola explained that the new offices are part of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s strategy to create a suitable and dignified working environment for government officials.

The one-storey building will include a conference room and various office spaces, among other amenities, he revealed.

He assured that the ministry would closely monitor the project to guarantee quality work is completed within the stipulated one-year timeframe, urging the contractor to adhere to the specifications.

“These new offices will help close existing gaps and align with current trends to facilitate the efficient operation of the state, ultimately enhancing democratic benefits for both rural and urban residents,” he concluded.
