The head coach of El-Kanemi Warriors, a team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Aliyu Zubairu, has resigned. For two years, Zubairu oversaw the club’s operations in Maiduguri.

In the inaugural season under the guidance of the youthful strategist, El-Kanemi Warriors were promoted to the Nigeria National League, NNL. Last year, he was also instrumental in the club’s President Federation Cup success.
“After much thought, I’ve chosen not to extend my contract, which is up when my two years here are up,” he announced.
“I am confident that I have made a significant contribution to the club’s growth and development, and this decision is a result of that belief.”
The Flying Eagles are Zubairu’s new priority. At last month’s 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, the Flying Eagles finished in third place. They will be representing their country at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile in 2025.
