Dangote Group has left a student who was hit by one of their trucks for 11 months — VeryDarkMan

Martins Otse, a well-known social media activist and commentator, also known as VeryDarkMan or VDM, has claimed that the Dangote Group has neglected a 22-year-old woman at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State, after she was struck by a truck driven by one of the company’s drivers. On his Instagram story, VeryDarkMan shared a video of the injured victim at the hospital on Monday.

He mentioned that the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, accumulating medical expenses exceeding N5 million. He pointed out that he participated in a protest against the operation of Dangote’s trucks in Auchi.

The activist insisted that the company’s management should take responsibility for all victims affected by Dangote’s trucks.

“Upon arriving at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Auchi, Edo State, we encountered a victim abandoned by Dangote’s reckless unlicensed driver, a 22-year-old girl who was on her way to her project when she was hit. She has been hospitalized for 11 months, with bills surpassing 5 million naira; Dangote has left her behind.

“Let it be known that we will not permit any Dangote trucks in Auchi today unless all victims of Dangote’s unlicensed truck drivers are adequately cared for @dangotegroup. @aliko_dangotegcon, we cannot confront you; you are the wealthiest individual in Africa and have influence over security forces. We are merely asking you to take responsibility,” he stated. As of the time of this report, Dangote Group has not yet addressed the allegation.

This incident follows shortly after Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna Otabor criticized Dangote Group after her sister, Ruth, was also hit by one of the company’s trucks in the same Auchi region of Edo State.

However, three days ago, Dangote Group issued a statement promising to cover all medical expenses for Ruth Otabor.

The incidents involving Dangote Group’s trucks are occurring as the company’s refinery plans to introduce 4,000 brand-new compressed natural gas trucks.
