While speaking with furucinovel in Damaturu this evening, they expressed their feelings. Buyers of the sacrificed animals have also been vocal about their displeasure with the price increase.
Disappointingly, not many people bought any of the animals, including rams, lambs, goats, and others, that was brought to the sale from all across the state and beyond. The extraordinary spike in cattle prices was said to be the cause of this.
According to livestock traders like Salisu Sa’adu and Ali Alhaji Mohammed, prices have risen between 70% and 80% over the previous year.
“Rams are selling for between N200,000 and N250,000 this year, which is a significant increase from last year’s sales of N70,000 to N80,000,” Sa’adu said. The rams cost between N800,000 and N1,000,000, Mohammed informed.
