Congo coach cautious of ‘wounded lion’ Home Eagles

Congo’s head coach, Barthelemy Ngatsono, emphasizes that his players need to perform at their highest level to secure a favorable outcome against Nigeria. Ngatsono’s team is still on the hunt for their first victory in the 2024 African Nations Championship.

Currently, the Congolese team sits in second place in Group D, having earned two points from two matches. To ensure their advancement to the quarter-finals, they must defeat Nigeria.

The Home Eagles, on the other hand, will be competing for pride, as they have yet to achieve a win in their initial two games. Ngatsono stated that they need to be at their best against their wounded rivals.

“We have great respect for Nigeria, but they are like a wounded lion. They will play with pride, so we need to be sharper and maintain our focus,” the coach was quoted as saying by CAFonline.

The match on Tuesday will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
