The vandalisation of equipment serving certain regions in the Ido Local Government Area has left such areas without energy for months, according to furucinovel’s investigation. Apete, Araromi, Odo Eran, Bolorunduro, and Abata Ataa are among the impacted communities.
Residents endured immense hardship as investigations exposed the theft of wires and other appliances at several instances.
All the transformers in the Papa area, Bolorunduro, Apete Central, Araromi along Akufo Road, Odo Eran at Oju Oja, and Apete Central have been impacted.
In an interview with furucinovel on Friday, Mr. Rasaki Fabayo, president of the Ajibode, Apete, Awotan, Araromi and Environs Community Development Association, acknowledged the situation.
According to him, the towns have been in the dark ever since the thefts happened, and some locals are even chipping in to help pay for new supplies.
They stole cables—incoming and outgoing, shielded and unprotected,” he continued. New ones are being funded by some towns.
The araromi, odo eran, oju oja, bolorunduro, apete central, awotan, and papa 2 transformers are impacted. There is complete darkness in these towns. I heard that some locals are already trying to get new appliances and cables.”
