COAS announces significant changes in the Army, appoints new leaders

The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has sanctioned the posting and appointment of numerous senior officers to essential command, instructional, and staff roles throughout the Nigerian Army’s formations and units.

In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, the acting Director of Army Public Relations, mentioned that this initiative aims to enhance leadership and reposition the Nigerian Army for improved operational efficiency.

The redeployment encompasses several principal staff officers at Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), corps commanders, commandants of training institutions, and brigade commanders, among other vital appointments within the army’s operational and administrative framework.

Among those designated as PSOs at Army Headquarters are Major General A.A. Adeyinka, who transitioned from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics; Major General A.A. Adekeye, who moved from the Army Headquarters Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management; and Major General T.B. Ugiagbe, redeployed from Headquarters Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to the Department of Standard and Evaluation as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.

Additionally, Major General A.A. Idris has been redeployed from Defence Headquarters to the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps as Chief of Military Intelligence, while Major General M.O. Erebulu transitioned from the Department of Special Services and Programmes to the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal.

Moreover, Major General E.A. Anaryu from the Defence Space Administration has been reassigned and appointed as Corps Commander, Supply and Transport. Major General S.A.
