During his tour of Abuja’s IBB International Golf and Country Club, Governor Wike made a solemn commitment to ensure that the federal government’s property remained under private ownership at all times.
The minister promised that the golf club will be restored to its former splendour. Due to a crisis involving structural reforms, the Abuja Golf Club was closed indefinitely.

While urging the institution to pay ground rent, the minister promised to renovate the club house. As soon as the club stops paying ground rent, Wike says it will shut down.
Wike has recently voiced his disapproval of Abuja’s ground rent payments, arguing that the capital city’s revenue comes from taxes rather than distribution.
In order to figure out how to start the renovation in stages, we will ask Julius Berger, who constructed this club originally, to come out. He threatened to close the club if the rent for the ground was not paid.
Commenting, the chairman Board for Trustees, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem appealed to Wike intervene in the club’s crisis. Dongban-Mensem said the club will improve the economy when renovated.
