Assailants storm an Abuja estate, slash security officers, and plunder residents

On Wednesday, numerous residences were robbed and five security officers were injured when suspected members of a criminal gang stormed Efab Global Estate in Abuja’s Idu Industrial Area.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of gunmen—perhaps more than twenty in number—launched a coordinated assault on the estate at midnight, firing randomly to induce fear.

The assailants overpowered the estate’s security force, killing five guards before robbing six homes, according to a resident of the estate who spoke to our reporter on Thursday but asked not to be named for fear of reprisal.

During the siege, the robbers snatched away items such as cash, mobile phones, jewellery, and more, according to the resident.

We were awakened by the deafening sound of gunfire and cries,” the local resident recalled. It shook with fear. Twenty or more assailants overwhelmed our security personnel.

Our reporter was able to get a message from the estate security committee that said they had laid siege to the estate and were firing shots at random.

Approximately forty masked males associated with a criminal organization broke into the Efab Global estate in Idu as part of a well-coordinated operation, according to the statement. Fear, chaos, and panic ensued as the gunmen laid siege to the estate and opened fire in a random fashion to begin their operation.

The excitement and anxiety of the locals prevented the police from being notified right away. The police were informed by the Security Committee at approximately 0400 hours local time, and they did not arrive until later.
