In a statement, KACRAN, the Nigerian association of cattle herders, denounced the senseless slaughter committed by armed bandits in Plateau State’s Riyom Local Government Area.

In a statement signed by the Association’s National President, Khalil Moh’d Bello, the group condemned the recent murder.

Tragically, the deaths in Riyom Local Government have occurred as Nigeria is still reeling from the loss of former President Muhammadu Buhari and national and state governments are working to bring about lasting peace and togetherness in Plateau State and the country as a whole, according to KACRAN.

“There is absolutely no excuse for people to sneak up on houses at night and open fire on innocent people,” KACRAN scowled.

The Association saw the horrific events in Riyom, which resulted in the murder of defenceless women and children, as an abhorrent act befitting a country as culturally varied and historically rich as Yemen.

The National President of the KACRAN issued a statement urging bandits and all others responsible for the ongoing violence to stop targeting villages and destroying property. We want children to know that breaking the law is never an option.

Instead of resorting to retaliatory violence against uninvolved women and children, it advised that individuals should report attacks or grievances to law enforcement agencies so that appropriate action can be taken.

KACRAN lauded Caleb Mutfwang, governor of Plateau State, for working to rebuild the state’s image as a peaceful and touristic mecca for the good of both his people and the country.

“KACRAN urged the Nigerian Military and other security operatives to continue their commendable service,” he said, expressing gratitude for the soldiers’ efforts to keep the country united and peaceful.

According to the association, the best way to address problems in Plateau State is to have open communication, listen to people’s opinions, make decisions fairly, and include everyone in the process.
