New political parties’ registration applications were further updated during the conference, and the preparations for the upcoming off-cycle governorship election in Anambra State were discussed.
Thanks to the 326 registration centres in Anambra State and the CVR’s nonviolent conduct, the Commission expressed its satisfaction with the turnout of registrants.
It came to light yesterday, Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, that 96,085 additional voters had been enrolled in just nine days.
The Commission claimed to register 10,600 voters daily on average and received 12,595 requests to transfer their registration within or outside the state, as well as 7,061 requests to update their records or replace damaged or lost Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).
Originally scheduled to conclude on Thursday, the CVR in Anambra State has been extended for three additional days by the Commission in response to public appeals. “It will now end on Sunday 20th July 2025,” the Commission announced, citing Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information & Voter Education Committee.
After that, the Commission will show the registry for citizen claims and objections in accordance with the legislation, and then use the Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) to clean up the data even further.
The public will then have access to a comprehensive breakdown of the new registrants by gender, age, occupation, and handicap.
“Among the new registrants at this preliminary stage, there are 56,017 females (58%), and 50,429 young people (aged 18–34) making up 52.48%.”
