A few months following the 2023 elections, the governor reportedly had a falling out with his political godfather, Akume, according to Furucinovel.

Reportedly, the schism within the All Progressives Congress (APC) was caused by a struggle for power within the state apparatus.

After the tragic events in Yelwata, where more than 200 innocent people were slaughtered, President Bola Tinubu paid a recent visit to the state, marking the beginning of the reconciliation process.

Traditional leaders in the state met with Akume, who was also there in reaction to the tragedy, and he urged them to work towards a peaceful resolution.

Alia confirmed his visit to the SGF’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, in a post on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.

He took to social media to announce an unexpected visit to Senator George Akume’s Abuja home, where he serves as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

“The meeting was characterised by a willingness to listen to one another, a sense of solidarity, thoughtful consideration of local and national concerns, and a dedication to the betterment of our beloved country and state.”
