The people of the FCT will see your excellent deeds, I promise—Wike President Tinubu

Nyesom Wike, minister of the FCT, has promised that citizens of Abuja will see President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly’s positive deeds every day. While the Greater Abuja Water Supply Network was being commissioned, he made the promise.

Wike thanked President Tinubu for his backing of FCT infrastructure development during his speech at the ceremony.

After taking office, Wike recalls receiving a direction from the president to prioritise the completion of certain projects, including the Greater Abuja Water Supply.

The minister elaborated that the Chinese government contributed 85% of the $470 million in funding for the project that was awarded in 2017 under the Partnership for African Development Initiative. The remaining 15% came from the Federal Government and the FCT Administration for Loops 1, 2, 5, and 6.

To President Tinubu, “We want to sincerely thank you that this job has been completed under this administration and that today you are commissioning the Greater Abuja Water supply network,” Wike said.

The minister also mentioned that a new deal with the Chinese firm CGC is currently being sought after in order to increase water supplies to satellite towns including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

“You stated that you want the train to run and that you want water delivered to the city,” he continued. The contracts in question were granted in 2017. It is with deep gratitude that we acknowledge the completion of these tasks during this administration.

It worked out well for us last year because I was a member of the delegation that accompanied you to China. At that location, FCT and CGC inked a water distribution deal for the rural districts.

I am writing to inform you that the procurement procedure for the water supply to Bwari, Kubwa, Karu, and other nearby communities is nearly finished. Not only does the metropolis get water from them, but the satellite towns do as well. Rest assured, these projects will be finished promptly. We are of the belief that the commissioning of the satellite towns will take place during your third anniversary.

The National Assembly’s backing of our cause has been tremendously inspiring, and I’d like to express my gratitude for it. Your actions in FCT will be scrutinised, and if some choose to remain oblivious, it is not your responsibility.
