Taraba hosts the start of army-wide security drills

A thorough training program for security personnel in Taraba State has been begun by the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS.

Beginning on Monday, the two-week school will teach operators the fundamentals of weapon handling, basic CPR, advanced driving, and vehicle maintenance, among other important skills.

At the exercise’s launch in Jalingo, the capital of the state, Governor Agbu Kefas praised it as an important step in strengthening the security architecture of the state in the face of growing regional threats.

In a statement made by Barrister Gebon T. Kataps, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the governor emphasised the significance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling new security threats and assured the security agencies of the state government’s ongoing support.

The training program was initiated by Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, who the governor praised for his leadership and vision. Uwa is Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS.

Brigadier General Uwa stated that the training is in line with the goal of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), which is to make the Nigerian Army a motivated and prepared fighting force that can carry out its constitutional duties in a collaborative and multi-agency setting.

Key elements like as weapon handling, basic first aid, advanced driving, and maintenance are the emphasis of this training, which aims to boost operational readiness. According to General Uwa, these skills are crucial for enhancing our efficiency, adaptability, and ability to stay alive on the battlefield.

He stressed the importance of first aid and vehicle maintenance abilities, saying they could increase mobility and agility in the security landscape and may even save lives during operations.

In particular, the brigade commander expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas for his logistical efforts, which included the donation of vehicles to assist operational actions, and for the ongoing support from the state government.

I am eternally indebted to the Executive Governor for his selflessness. Uwa went on to thank the SSG and other state officials for their assistance in fulfilling their duty.
