The news was announced by Buni through his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, at a meeting with Sharon Dimanche, the Chief of Mission for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in Nigeria. A state strategy was initiated by his government to address the issues encountered by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), he explained.

In addition, the governor boasted that 5% of the state budget had been set aside to improve infrastructure, help internally displaced people (IDPs) resettle, and integrate with dignity.

To hasten the recovery and relocation process, the government has put money into educational institutions, farms, healthcare facilities, roadways, power grids, and water pipes.

As a result of their dignified resettlement, “I am happy this has worked for us,” he added, adding that the state no longer has an internally displaced persons camp.

The head of the International Organisation for Migration’s (IOM) Nigerian mission has praised the state administration for its efforts to help internally displaced people.

“Showing such great concern to the resettlement of displaced persons with dignity requires a leader with a special heart,” Dimanche added.

She reaffirmed IOM’s dedication to working in tandem with the Yobe State Government to enhance the quality of life for the people.
