Ochetoha K’Idoma, the youth wing of the Idoma supreme socio-cultural organisation, has rejected Thursday’s Makurdi rally that backed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia.

According to the Daily Post, a gathering of women and youths from Benue State held a protest in Makurdi on Thursday to show their support for the current government, despite the fact that victims of assaults by Fulani herdsmen are in hospitals and their families are grieving.
Young people rallying around pro-Tinubu and pro-Alia factions flocked to the streets of Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, to demand that President Bola Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia be re-elected.
Protesters waved banners reading “No Alia, No Benue,” “Idoma, Tiv, Igede Youths are proud of you Alia,” and “Tiv, Idoma, Igede support Tinubu,” among other statements.
Comrade Mike Magaji, president of the Ochetoha K’Idoma youth wing, responded to the event by saying that no Idoma were there.

“Hired hungry people” were his description of the protesters, who he said were paid to smear President Tinubu and Governor Alia’s reputations.
According to Magaji, who spoke to the Daily Post on Thursday night, the Idoma people are still grieving the loss of loved ones at the hands of herders and will never join a demonstration in solidarity with the people who failed to defend them.
“We can never be a part of such a shameful outing,” he stated. Those individuals were employed to smear Mr. President and Alia’s reputations, and they were paid to do so.

The situation is unfortunate. Therefore, the youngsters of Idoma do not associate with any kind of support organisation. We will never again join a demonstration in solidarity with individuals who have abandoned us since we were never a part of it. If someone isn’t going to defend our lives and possessions, it’s foolish to believe that we would back them.
