According to Pat Utomi, Nigeria requires a complete overhaul

Professor Pat Utomi, a political economist, has demanded that Nigeria be reorganised before to the next election in 2027.

While speaking at Thursday’s Annual Democracy Day National Dialogue in Ikeja on June 12, Utomi made this plea.

According to the furucinovel, the June 12 Pro-Democracy Movement of Nigeria organised the program, which is themed: ‘Democracy Without a Democratic Constitution: Which Way for Nigeria?’

Utomi argues that a complete reorganisation of Nigeria’s government will be beneficial to the country’s democracy. Protests calling for a complete overhaul of the country’s political system will help to solidify and expand democracy there.

His reasoning was that “chief Abiola sacrificed his life for a different type of democracy” than what is currently in place.

An additional difficulty for democracy, according to the political scientist, was “the unworkable 1999 constitution” and the country’s current political and economic structure. To enhance the country and its democracy, he said, all Nigerians must embrace restructuring.

He claims that President Bola Tinubu may get the support of the people by listening to the concerns of ethnic groups like the Afenifere and the Ohanaeze over the restructuring of the country.

Against the anti-democratic forces and their agents, Utomi admonished Nigerians to protect democracy with all their might.
