‘Oliver Twist’ was sampled by the iconic American singer Marc Anthony without permission, according to Nigerian Afrobeats sensation D’banj’s legal team.

On the titular track of his 2024 album, “Muevense,” Marc Antony sampled the 2012 hit “Oliver Twist” by D’banj.
In response, D’banj revealed during a recent interview with Adesope Live that he was pleased at first when the music icon sampled his work, but that the economic aspect of music eventually pushed him to allow his legal team investigate.
“One of my greatest highlights last year was having Marc Anthony sample my song,” he stated. Last year, he put out an album, and in the title and first track, you can hear a sample of my song “Oliver Twist.” The Latin rendition of “Oliver Twist” sounded just like it when I listened to it.
