JUSUN calls off strike indefinitely

The Nigerian Judiciary Staff Union, better known as JUSUN, has ended the indefinite strike that started on June 1.

Workers in the judiciary went on strike because the federal government wouldn’t meet their demands, such as a 25/35 percent pay rise for employees under the consolidated public service salary structure, the implementation of a new national minimum wage of N70,000, and the settlement of a five-month wage award.

After multiple fruitless negotiations—including talks with the Minister of Labour and Employment—JUSUN firmly advocated that its members go on strike.

On June 3, 2025, JUSUN announced in a communiqué that it had decided to end the strike following discussions and agreements with representatives of Nigeria’s chief justice, Hon. Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and other interested parties.
