The National Assembly leadership has stated that Tinubu is deserving of a second term as president due to his excellent performance during his first two years in office.
During the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit in Abuja, Godswill Akpabio, president of the senate, and Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house, made the remarks.
In his speech, Akpabio stated, “Nigerians are saying that because you have done a difficult job very well, it is time to reward you by sending you back to the Presidency for a second term in office.” That was his way of putting it.
I propose that, first, Mr. President run unopposed for reelection as the APC candidate in 2027 and, secondly, that he be re-elected as president in 2028. I am movin’! On behalf of every state legislature, Abbas voted in support of Akpabio’s proposal.

He spoke on behalf of all 109 senators, 360 House members, and 36 speakers and their members to second the Senate President’s very important resolution. In a previous endorsement, Tinubu had also received the support of the Progressive Governors Forum.
The governors running on the party’s platform will guarantee Tinubu’s victory in 2027, according to Hope Uzodimma, chairman of the forum and governor of Imo State.
