A statement given to Furucinovel by Yusuf Suleiman, the Director of Education & Public Relations, verified this. The action, he claimed, is in response to a petition alleging wrongful use of office and theft from the bank.

“The commission is currently investigating a complaint of alleged abuse of office and misappropriation of funds belonging to Jigawa State Savings and Loans Nigeria Limited by its Managing Director, Mr. Babandi Isah,” reads the statement.

“Among the charges leveled against him are a failure to fulfill his obligations as an official, corruption on the part of the government, and the granting of contracts without proper procedures, including a so-called unfulfilled contract for the purchase of government vehicles.”

He further stated that the claims encompass the unlawful division of land belonging to Jigawa State Savings and Loans Ltd at 744 Housing Estate (Mobile Base), Dutse, Jigawa State, as well as the devaluation and sale of properties owned by Jigawa Savings and Loans Ltd situated at Shuwarin, Maiduguri/Kiyawa Road.

Some of the other accusations include the withholding of taxes from Jigawa State and their subsequent diversion or non-remittance to the Jigawa State Internal Revenue Service.

According to the statement, the Commission has taken legal action by charging the suspect with the aforementioned offenses.
