Three individuals have been ordered to remain in jail detention by Chief Magistrate Court 3, which is located in Yola, Adamawa State. They are being held on suspicion of killing Thomas Godwin, also known as Zamfara, a renowned politician.

Last month, the court arraigned Godwin Chakukuyada, Ibrahim Bakari, and Danlami Ali on charges related to the suspected murder of Thomas Godwin.

On Monday, the three defendants were arraigned on allegations of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. They were among nine individuals that the state police command reported last week as being in its possession, having been arrested earlier in relation to Zamfara’s killing.

The First Information Report (FIR) submitted to the court states that violent political thugs attacked the dead while he was traveling from Fadama Rake to his birthplace, Kala’a.

The FIR states that the defendants allegedly battered the victim until he passed out; the victim was then taken to the adjacent Federal Medical Centre in Hong, where his death was officially announced.

At Monday’s court session, as the defendants were being arraigned, Inspector Emmanuel, the police prosecutor, asked the judge to read the FIR to the defendants so that they might enter a plea; thereafter, all of the defendants denied culpability in the charges.

Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi presided over the court, which adjourned the case to June 19 and remanded the prisoners so the police could finish their investigation.
